A WHOLE LOTTA RIPPLES Pierce G. 6133-H (Bowtie Affair x Venetian Pools) x Web of Ideals EV, EM, RE, 40” high, 7” flower, 9-way branching, 50+ buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone Darker. *Patterns All season!
Ok, here you are. #6133-H was asked about over and over. My Best pattern to date, and that is saying a lot. I counted 13 (Thirteen) Chevron markings within the colored web, dots, veining Etc. Flat petals with no canoeing. A clean base color with a bright green throat, and a truly Champion flower scape that is beyond any tree. She sets pods easily and passes-on those lovely and very intricate Chevron markings to your LARGE flowered patterns. For the final touch, A WHOLE LOTTA RIPPLES hosts a matching Picotee. ***She does not lose her Chevrons when it gets hot, or at any time!
APPLE MOUNTAIN Pierce G. 5185 (Big 8 x Jade Ovation) EV, EE, RE, 36” high, 8.5” flower, 9-way branching, 50+ buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone.
Yes, “There’s Green in them there Reds again…” If you have been tired of the average looking reds over the past 2 decades, then APPLE MOUNTAIN just may fit your bill. Again, the influence of TRFK has saved the day adding not only size, and that amazing Diamond Dusting, but My Favorite – Green. APPLE MOUNTAIN has not only a lovely Full Form look, but she also has a tree scape that dreams are made from. The Mountain grows like a weed, is strong, has my cherished arching foliage, and best of all throws BIG Green throated kids. I have some to truly drool over Futures here. The Mountain also has a distinctive pinkish watermark that matches the petals outlined in bubbly Chartreuse. A large, double substance Beauty.
ASSIGNED FOR SIZE Pierce G. 607-T (Guy’s Swan Song x Solar Sweet) x F2 EV, EE, RE, 40” High, 8” flower, 6-way branching, 35 buds, Very Fragrant, 100% diamond dusted. Bi-Tone. Green glow
Just as the name says, this is one Big Blossom. In fact, if you can find a Tet or Dip full form as grand anywhere, I will refund your money and you keep her. I have no worries. And… ASSIGNED FOR SIZE stays big, you can feel the weight in your hands! This is not one of those – Only the first flowers open big hems. OK, she is a light polychrome but more on the white/cream side. The base color is a clean cream with a hint of pink and lemon with deeper veining of lemon chartreuse. The 2 5/8 extra wide sepals are a solid almost white. She is very Ruffled with 4 3/4” wide overlapping petals, and with TRFK, has twice the substance. The ruffles are also colored in darker lemon. Then there is the lovely chartreuse lemon center which spills out onto the 100% Diamond Dusted petals. ASSIGNED FOR SIZE also sits on sets of TALL sturdy scapes, which hold up this masterpiece. This is a daylily that when you first see you can’t help but scream and thank God! As a #600 series she is limited and of course I will be keeping back 10-20 pots so don’t snooze. Luckily, she is also a good seed setter too, so this year I will get to see several hundred young show-offs. An Absolute Winner! Fertile both ways.
AUNT PATSY Pierce G. 5082 (Royal Extravaganza x Superstitious) x Crowning Fire EV-SEV, EE, RE 32” high, 7.5” flower, 5-way branching & prolifs, 30 Buds, 4.75” petals, Fragrant. Big & Flat
With this lovely blooming in your garden, every morning, rebloom after rebloom, you can say “Hello Beautiful” And… be allowed to stare. This large and brilliantly colored Rich Red daylily was the favorite in a garden visit of Jacob Henry, and his Aunt – Patsy Newton or as we all called her that day, AUNT PATSY. This is a VERY different Red with a fiery glow in the watermark area, has a ghost edging around the extra wide 4.75” Petals and then outlined in Lemon. The throat is nicely green with the flower being quite ornate with ruffles, darker veining with occasionally wings. The form is outstanding like a round Fireball with every bloom being perfect! AUNT PATSY is an absolute winner with a super scape & prolifs, blooming Extra Early, and all Season; and with some light shade makes these giant Walnut seed pods!!! In the next few years my Red Program will literally jump off the pages, and this year’s Reds are the real heroes. If you do Reds or just want the best, I PROMISE you, AUNT PATSY will not disappoint! Fertile both ways
BIG BLUE LAKE Pierce G. 4801- BN (Bragging Rights x No Words) SEV, EE, RE, 36” high, 10” flower, 3-way branching, 18 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone Ever bloomer.
Cool and refreshing is how I would best describe BIG BLUE LAKE, and of course Big! Really, there is too much to fully describe. Besides the heavy white/green applique center you have a bluish watermark and edge outlined in Chartreuse. Green coming out onto the Bi-tone sepals. The whole flower is covered in Diamond Dusting, and did I mention Big. This is “the” flower to breed for blues, and if you really feel wild, cross BIG BLUE LAKE to a strong Chevron type pattern. Do a long cross and see what happens…! Like being high up in the mountains, BIG BLUE LAKE is a refreshing jewel! Fertile both ways.
BING CROSBY Pierce G. 5262-A (Bloodwine x (Reigning Red x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy)) DOR, EM, RE, 34” high, 7” flower, 5-way branching, 30 Buds, Fragrant. Blooms Non-Stop! Pink Watermark
Another one of my favorites is this large and dark colored, “Bing” DARK Cherry Red / True Red. He is rich and saturated to all get-up. Petals are wide and thick, resembling velvet. Twice the substance, BING CROSBY is 100% covered in Diamond Dusting. Thank You again George Doorakian. Similar to Cherries Go Round, this Bigger bloom is about twice as saturated, and will set a pod almost every time. Can you picture the kids with Big Red Bull…? BING CROSBY will take you almost anywhere dark flowers are concerned. I have had to breed with only my other TRFK reds ETC. since everything else is just too small. Excellent plant habit, arching foliage, with a ruffled white and gold edge. Do you love the olive green throat and Cherry Pink watermark? I would like everyone to grow Mr. Bing, which I believe is definitely worth $150 Plus, and so I will price him at $125! Enjoy… Very easily fertile both ways.
BOLD APPROVAL Pierce G. 4001-CF (Diamond Shores x Malibu Barbie) SEV-DOR, EM, RE, 29” high, 8.5-9” flower, 4-way branching, 30 buds, Fragrant.
Bold is right. Double doses of TRFK and that gorgeous green, screams out “Look at me”! But I will deny ever hearing that … Smiles... BOLD APPROVAL is not a fancy daylily, its Simple, Pretty, and Large. These Large flat flowers are saturated with diamond dusting and displays the most brilliant color of rich Cerise Rose that glows and sparkles in the sun. And of course, the celery thick glistening 7” green center covering 3/4ths the bloom. Simple - Maybe. Bold – Definitely. Take BOLD APPROVAL to ANY of my other green throated lovelies and enjoy your results!!! Fertile both ways.
CHAMPAGNE ON ICE Pierce G. 6169 (Judy Farquhar x Going Green) x 481-DJ TRFK Seedling EV, EM, RE, 32” high, 9-9.5” flower, 4.25” petals, 5-way branching, 25-30 buds, Fragrant. Thick
You will be completely taken aback when you see not only the size of this beauty, but as well as her cool, Icy coloration. The lightest white pink, lemon chartreuse, and green. Lots of GREEN from the throat covering over 75% of the flower face – All in Diamond Dusting! Incredible substance textured with lemon veining. I am calling this a White and she was growing in my white rows. Hey, CHAMPAGNE ON ICE is way more exciting than a plain old white! She gets her Angels Wings from Judy, lemon edging from Going Green, and the GREEN from TRFK. What more can be said. Exactly as you see. Fertile both ways.
CLOAK AND VEIL Pierce G. 3293-B (Rose Sensation x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) x Polar Dusk SEV-EV, EM-M, RE, 32” high, 7.25” flower, 6-way branching, 30 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone
There is so much going on here with this flower… My first Color Changer that goes from rich Raspberry Pink to a lighter smooth pink with dark veining, Bi-toned and with a very nice big ruffled yellow gold edge. Usually the first few blooms have these lovely Angel’s Wings. Being a TRFK she has twice the substance and is completely covered in sparkly Diamond Dusting. TRFK gave me these big showy flowers but they lacked that Diploid fancy old Southern look; so, I took Polar Dusk to many of these with CLOAK AND VEIL being the best winner. Besides being so different and pretty, she has an amazing rack of branching and double branching which sets TONS of Big Seed Pods. I love it when that happens. Blue green arching foliage, and I believe has some good Dormancy from observations. Oh, did I mention the large green center. Fertile both ways.
COMPLETELY FROSTED Pierce G. 4101-I (Guy’s Outrageous x Triple Greens) SEV-DOR, EM, RE, 32” high, 8.5” flower, 4-way branching, 24 buds, fragrant. Bi-Tone
Wow, another “Does not even look like a daylily” – Beauty. This Big, Flat breathtaking blossom is cool and ever so clean. COMPLETELY FROSTED has the strongest Diamond Dusting among any of my intros. She simply is only 3 main shades. The base light purple petals; outlined in a heavy lemon Chartreuse ruffle and sawtooth. The lighter sepals glowing in bright green, and the Huge celery GREEN throat area covering some 85% of the flower. Ribbed, Diamond Dusted and Superb. Sib to my 2020 intro – GUY’S OH BEHAVE. Cross them and smile! Fertile both ways.
COOL CRYSTALS Pierce G. 6074-A (Bragging Rights x Space coast Art Deco) EV, EM, RE, 32” high, 7.25” flower, 8-way branching, 35-40 buds, Fragrant. ***Amazing Scapes! Bi-Tone. Arching Foliage.
I am finally beginning to love Appliques. Now that the colors have been cleaned-up and they don’t turn-up their toes like some lines do!!! The possibilities here are endless, especially with both Spacecoast Seashells & TRFK dazzling the flower center! In COOL CRYSTALS you get a masterpiece of clarity. The large Applique is 100% Diamond Dusted in Chartreuse, Lime, and some White. There is a ghostly outline watermark that outlines the petals, and when it warms up a yellow edge with tiny teeth will appear. *Extremely Pod Fertile, take something like Get Spiked and change the rules. Again! Do Not disregard the scapes on COOL CRYSTALS. Colorful and different.
DARK ALLIANCE Pierce G. 5277-B (Halloween Effect x Mr. Bojangles) EV-SEV, EM, RE, 34” high, 6.75” flower, 5-way branching, 25-30 buds, Fragrant. Double Edging
Here is a study in clarity and what you can get with a long cross. Clean, saturated, intense! How many Purple Double Edges do I have now – 3 maybe 4. Both parents above are super easy pod parents and so a long cross was a must. Of ALL the keepers, DARK ALLIANCEluckily was “The” cut above. Not only in a bigger bloom with super round overlapped petals, but also in an eye-catching style. She’s got The Look! An easy grower with nice blue green foliage, DARK ALLIANCE is just what you see and is right on pace for a 2020 Modern Daylily! As will the whole collection, she should grow wonderfully all around the world. With her round form, green throat, and Rich, Rich coloration; I am positive you will love DARK ALLIANCE. Easily fertile both ways, and she Pops in the garden.
DETERMINED SPIRIT Pierce G. 511-A (Roaring Red x Red TRFK Seedling) DOR, EM, RE, 28” high, 7.75” + Flower, 4 -way branching, 23 buds (as Dormant), Fragrant, 100% Diamond Dusted.
Folks have commented they want edging on my TRFK things - Well here you are. DETERMINED SPIRIT is one of those flowers that is always the same - Unbelievably Bold! Like no red I have ever seen. This large, flat, and tough as nails solid red will stun you with her Celery like green center that runs from end to end. The entire blossom is 100% Diamond Dusted and is Fragrant too. If you like the picture, you will be amazed with DETERMINED SPIRIT. Fertile both ways throwing amazing seedlings! *Being a Dormant she does not multiply quickly here so supply is Very Limited. A side note: Stats should be better once she gets some cold. Here you go Zone Five. Fertile both ways.
EMERGING PATTERNS Pierce G. 485-B (Peak of Perfection x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) x Pandora’s Charm SEV- EV, EM, RE, 44” high, 7.75” Flower, 7-way branching, 40-45 buds, Fragrant. 100% Diamond Dusted. Large Celery throat.
This is my first pattern from TRFK breeding worthy of introduction. Granted it is not one of my advance patterns – how could it be, but… EMERGING PATTERNS has the most wonderful thick scape, is Very large and full, has lots of green, and the entire bloom of covered in Diamond Dusting. Add to this the TRIPLE Edging and the fact that there IS a pattern template there; and you have the makings for something out of this world., and the kids take the cake!!! *Look at the sparkles and green on the sepals… Both EMERGING PATTERNS and THE GLOWING FIELDS are very limited and are pod Fertile. This is amazing for a flower of such size. Have Fun!!! Fertile both ways.
EXOTIC RUBY Pierce G. 4180-F (Dancing Flamingo x Guy’s Outrageous) SEV, EE, RE, 34” high, 8” flower, 4-way branching, 23 buds, Fragrant. ***A garden favorite
Bright - glowing, Glowing, GLOWING… Big ruby red flowers, with TONS of style. EXOTIC RUBY is anything but flat and boring. She is Thick and has a look like she is in motion… With her Wide ruffles and very bold flutes. The 6” Double Green throat is molded from Green wax, and often pleated. She is deeply ribbed and strongly Diamond Dusted too. There is a Chartreuse and ghost edging, and this strong GREEN comes way out onto the sepals – Neat! I made hundreds of seed this year with Green Volcano. That should be fun – Come and see… ***A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER IN PERSON! Priced lower due to great increase. Fertile both ways.
FOOTLONG Pierce G. 52121-A (Applique Prism x Seedling) x (Unknown x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) SEV, EEE, Ever-bloomer, 30” high, 11-11.75 “ flower, 4-way branching + prolifs, 25-30 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone. Ever bloomer…
When they ask you – say “I’ll have the Avocado footlong with Jacaranda please – For here”. Now… I could lie and say this was a twelve-inch bloom, but why lie. She is totally gorgeous. In fact, when François was here this past spring, he just had to have it - “Any Cost”. So we let him have a DF early. He has spent tens of thousands here so, see this is what happens when you come and visit… FOOTLONG is really neat. Cool… Like all of mine, a Snap Open EMO and always perfect. Glistening in the sun, covered with 100% Diamond Dusting, or glowing in the shade emanating GREEN. Twice ((DOUBLE)) the reg. Tetraploid texture, this Thick, Ribbed, GREEN daylily is outlined in light Jacaranda purple. Ditto on the sepals. Honestly, an edge, or anything else, would just ruin the simplicity of this elegant giant. The extra bling’s are in the Heavy Ribbing, and the Darker Veining, plus – HELLO - It’s a Big Green Daylily!!! In addition, FOOTLONG is another Ever blooming, Semi-evergreen to possibly Dormant daylily! If she ever got a chance to rest properly, like with a long winter, she may have more buds too. I reckon, in a climate where people say they get no rebloom, FOOTLONG will go once, twice, even three times. Please let me know. I am a proud papa! Fertile both ways, but pods need some shade.
GALACTIC GLOW Pierce G. 4800-AO (Galactic Green x Majestic Design) SEV, EE, RE, 38” high, 10” flower, 4-way branching, 25-30 buds, Fragrant, 100% diamond dusted. Ever bloomer. SUPER DEEP GREEN THROAT!!!
This flower has the most intense GREEN center, and covered in Diamond Dusting.
GALCTIC GLOW may not be fancy, but she is brilliant in colors, TEN Inches wide and Tall. The hotter it gets the brighter GALACTIC GLOW gets. Another of my Ever-bloomers, she starts way before anything here, oh early March, and will go 6-7 sets of re-bloom scapes until cut for replanting where she continues scaping! Colorful, with an 8” TRIPLE GREEN Celery center and also a purple picotee. Grows like a weed. Fertile both ways.
GET SPIKED Pierce G. 6072-AM (Happy Teeth x Supreme Team) SEV-EV, EE, RE, 30” high, 5.5/8” flower, 5-way branching, 25 buds, Fragrant. Teeth! *Picture taken in March – In the cold
There is not a lot that needs to be explained here. GET SPIKED is Teeth and Tentacles. Long, wild, and Sparkly with a daylily attached. The photo was taken in the shade in Mid-March when it is still cool here; showing that this is not a Toothy one that needs a magnifying glass or only gets her teeth on re-bloom! She does not hang or water spot and is not one of those where the breeder got a lucky pic. Fertile both ways. Kids look like you would expect. Have Fun!!!
GLISTENING TREASURE Pierce G. 4480-J (Going Green x Guy’s Swan Song) x Seedling (Guy’s Swan Song x Guy’s Oh Happy Day) SEV, E, RE, 30” high, 8.5” Flower, 5-way branching, 25-30 buds, Fragrant.
Wonderful!!! This gaudy and frilled near white polychrome is LARGE, Ruffled, and SOLID!!! Will handle sun, sprinklers, more sun – all day, and still look great at 5pm! GLISTENING TREASURE is just that – A Treasure. Wide ruffled petals, with greener edging, and with a style… Nothing like any of the light-colored flowers out there today. People say “Oh, I already have too many yellows” Well donate them. The TRFK yellow, white, greens, polychrome mixes, etc. with their double substance and intensity, will give them all a run! The entire bloom is 100% covered in sparkly Diamond Dusting, along with the Green Glow GLISTENING TREASURE just pops. Folks come into the garden stare and want to touch… Fertile both ways, and an easy parent from Guy’s Swan Song.
GUY’S OH BEHAVE Pierce G. 4441-T (Guy’s Outrageous x Triple Greens) SEV-DOR, EM, RE, 30” high, 8+” flower, 5-way branching, 30 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone
What more can be said than just looking at this very large and truly amazing Full Form beauty. Seriously!!! A full sib to COMPLETELY FROSTED, this flower has it all! Huge combination ribbed throat, watermarking, Celery substance, all sparkling in shades of frosted white, chartreuse, and green - covering over 80% of the flower. Cleanest of colors with a bubbly Lemon Chartreuse edge. And… on a wonderfully strong, well budded scape that reblooms All Season. This Strong flower is complex, sepals are smooth, and all in diamond dusted Green & White. Amazing!!! Fertile both ways.
HAPPY GO RUFFLES Pierce G. 4007-G (Talladega x Ruby Ridge) x (Seedling x Unknown) EV, EM, RE, 35” high, 7.5” flower, 6-way branching, 30+ buds, Very Fragrant.
Finally, I got a Red keeper from Talladega. Being rose, small and with tall foliage, it took a while to get there, but boy did I. HAPPY GO RUFFLES is a vibrant True Red with wide petals and extreme ruffling, even Angle Wings colored in Gold, Yellow, and White. With HAPPY’S Wide Petals & big edging, she still does not hang-up. I have so many cover shots of this large and amazing red flower. She sits on a tremendous set of scapes, is easily pod fertile, and honestly too good of a parent! The green is back in the throats now, and I already have plans for “podding” her up for next year. Fertile both ways.
LOU’S MELODY Pierce G. 5213-G (Applique Prism x Sdlg) x (Max Factor x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) SEV, EE, RE, 30” high, 10.5” flower, 4-way branching, 23 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone. HUGE!
John MacLeigh asked us if we would name one of our big purples for his late wife Carolyn, a long-standing customer and super nice lady. John also came up with the name LOU’S MELODY, and so I chose the large darker sib to Footlong.
This nearly 11-inch dark Royal Purple with a very large Celery Green (Sparkly) throat is lovely. LOU’S MELODY has not only the Green of TRFK, but the size and length of Tet Time Stopper and Tet Malachite Prism. LOU’S MELODY blooms extra early and goes all season, nearly an Ever bloomer. Low blue green SEV foliage, completely Diamond Dusted, on a Double substance giant. Fertile both ways.
MADAM SECRETARY Pierce G. 4192 (Sweet Cotton Candy x Shimmering Dawn) x (Seedling x Pot Belly Pink) SEV, EE, RE, 30” high, 7.5” flower, 5-way branching + prolifs, 25-30 buds, Fragrant. Bi Tone
MADAM SECRETARY is a beauty to behold. She glows in the brightest, cleanest, Bubble Gum Pink colors, with light ruffling and darker pink veining. 100 % Diamond Dusted, with just a wee touch of the green stuff. Almost a decade now of IMPROVING the best TRFK seedlings together, and here now is one of my very best. Not a huge flower like so many, and the price will reflect this for you. Semi evergreen blue green arching foliage, great plant habits. An absolute Thoroughbred for blooming!!! Easily Pod Fertile, both ways, The Madam is my go-to Pink and GREEN. Did you notice the picotee sepals? Double Substance, she should thrive anywhere.
MASTER CHIEF Pierce G. 4208-C (Big 8 x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) x Tetra Curtis Noel SEV, EE, RE, 36” high, 8.75-9+” flower, 5-way branching & prolifs, 25 buds, Fragrant. A Monster!
They just keep getting bigger AND, Better! Another near Perfect daylily. Rich Dark Red coloration with a bright glow, darker veining. A light edge with Lemon saw teeth. But it’s the Ginormous Size, 4” wide petals, and deep Olive-Green throat that makes this monster an Exotic! I hesitated to use the Tet conversion simply because next to what I have already achieved, it seemed too tiny, but I had the pollen and from only 3 seeds got The Master. Yes, I have used it some more… Covered in brilliant Diamond Dusting, with thick scapes that hold the Master at attention.
Mc JAGGER Pierce G. 419-D (Mean Joe Green x Seedling) x (Mazatlán x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) SEV, E, RE. 38” high, 7.75” flower, 6-way branching, 35 buds, Very Fragrant. Lots of Green.
The perfect melding of all directions. Dark purple, green colorations, a Big knobby Edging, wild and flat faced. The throat is that Celery Green, whereas the ruffled edging is a bright sparkling chartreuse color with heavy bubbles, and hooks. Mc JAGGER is a big and showy flower. He grows like a weed and has an excellent pedigree too. An excellent parent, Mc JAGGER will give almost any purple momma - pods – kids, that will have people looking! Fertile both ways.
MEGAN’S EMERALD GEM Pierce G. 4165-A (Admirals Blush x Triple Greens) SEV-EV, EM, RE, 36” high, 8-8.5” flower, 10-way branching, 45-50 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone *** Hemerocallis Perfection
Named for Karen’s Sister in law - Megan, MEGAN’S EMERALD GEM, is honestly… what I would say as near perfect to a perfect and modern daylily – Period. It’s not about any one remarkable thing, which all hybridizers get, but… often lacks all the rest. This one, actually does have it all; A remarkable face with pure colors, and lots of Pizazz. A SUPER GREEN oversized Olive-Green throat, all in Diamond Dusting. A rich petal color of glowing purple. A Bi-Tone with green on sepals. A bubbly ruffled edging with ghost white, then strong Lemon Chartreuse. Easily pod fertile, and both ways. Blue green healthy arching Semi-evergreen foliage that, even after 4,5,6 sets of scapes, does not shrink down. A Dream Scape with TEN WAY BRANCHING, and tons of buds, reblooming over and over. And like all of my things they must be death proof (Naturally) to be a Pierce introduction. Lastly, MEGAN’S EMERALD GEM is just that, a large out of this world Gem! It takes guts to speak so boldly about a plant – I have that much confidence, Enjoy!
MINT SCENTIVA Pierce G. 4028-F (Fancy Lace x Guy’s Swan Song) x (Fancy Lace x Guy’s Swan Song) SEV, EM, RE, 30” high, 7.5-8” flower, 6-way branching, 35 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone
Never have I worked so hard on one color – Green. To get to # 4028 took over four years and easily 40 to 70,000 seedlings; using only a handful of worth parents. Finally, in 2015 I flagged 6 keepers, to eventually introduce MINT SCENTIVA. Whether she is 98% Green with a touch of pink white, or the other way around, Finally I can rest a bit without so many bridge keepers. With two doses of TRFK, the bloom is Solid and 100% Diamond Dusted. Round, ruffled, with overlapped petals. And… Darker Chartreuse edges. The greenest Daylily Tet or Dip to date, and look at the stats! Fertile both ways.
PERPLEXING PLUM Pierce G. 6313-A (Inner Spirit x Spacecoast Art Deco) EV-SEV, EM, RE, 42” high, 7.5” flower, 8-way branching, 40+ buds, Fragrant. Arching Foliage. Quad. Edging with teeth
I love Dark daylilies, especially when they have a big splash of something – How about an Applique. PERPLEXING PLUM is not the worlds most advanced Hem for 2020, but… she grows like an absolute weed, has possibly the best branched scapes I have seen, and makes a big splash. A Perplexing Splash in the garden. Very Easily pod fertile, PERPLEXING PLUM passes on her goodness, giving me a chance to take her even further. Probably larger than 7.5” as I do not take my sizes until late July, as the blooms progress, she will sport black, purple knobs with silver.
PINKASAURUS Pierce G. 4129-B (Seedling x Seedling) SEV, EE, RE, 32” high, 8-9” flower, 6-way branching, 35 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone *Will not bite. Ever bloomer
Hello! With a capital O. Yes, this is real, and is by far the largest edge, ruffled Chartreuse Edging introduced to date @ 1 ½” Deep! And… at 8 ½” PLUS, PINKASAURUS sets pods - with light shade. I still remember my first year to breed with her. My first thought, because of the giant size, will I get any pods? And I did and do. Not easy mind you, and the pollen is easy. PINKASAURUS is another Ever bloomer and literally will not stop blooming. Just look at the picture and this is what you have. I really hope that when she blooms, you can appreciate how absolutely CLEAN the Bubble Gum Pink is. 100% Diamond Dusted, a TRFK kid so you get that twice the substance and being such a clear pink taking her to your other edged things can or will clean-up your colors, and hopefully make seedlings that rock your world, or make you smile. Which honesty and with all the integrity I can muster; is always what I want for you all. Did I mention the green throat?
POSITIVE ENERGY Pierce G. 6081-I (TRK Seedling X Spacecoast Art Deco) EV, EM, RE, 34” high, 7” flower, 8-way branching, 35-40 buds, Fragrant. Low Arching Foliage.
The same, or possibly the opposite of COOL CRYSTALS. An Applique Eye of Chartreus, Lime, and White, but in a triangle form. Glistening and glowing in 100% Diamond Dusting with a purple eye, bisected in Raspberry Veining. POSITIVE ENERGY also sports a double edging of purple and lime, matching the flower center. Diamond dusted green shows-off on the sepals, and she has the most perfect of plant habit. Again, Easily Fertile both ways. POSITIVE ENERGY is a daylily you can breed to go almost anywhere.
PRICKLY PATTERNS Pierce G. 6357-E (Spinefeld x Supreme Team) x Matthew Weldon SEV, EE, RE 30” high, 6.5” flower, 6-way branching, 35 buds, Fragrant. Bright Green Throat
If there is one main thing I have learned in blooming hundreds, and hundreds of thousands of seedlings, is that with enough effort, almost anything is possible. Even the impossible. I call this hard work with Luck! And I wish this for everyone!!! PRICKLY PATTERNS is one of those that is creating a whole new daylily. Patterns, with Teeth. Why not! Well a decade later here is PRICKLY PATTERNS, and she makes patterns with teeth – Cool! In getting more and more crazy - things will happen; instead of a triple edging PRICKLY PATTERNS has a Quadruple Toothy Edge. Very, very pod fertile and with outstanding plant habit, buds, scape, and Diamond Dusting; and with White Teeth on Sepals too – The whole enchilada. Like my True Double Edges, this is my next milestone maker.
PRICKLY PLUMS Pierce G. 5275-A (Supreme Team x Seedling) EV, EM, RE, 28” high, 6.75” flower, 5-way branching, 25 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone. Teeth. Teeth on Sepals
Probably my advantage, as a daylily hybridizer, is when I want to do something, like teeth – I go All-Out! Some breeders will do a cross with one or two pods. Or if they are really lucky five. FYI, if you do not grow Supreme Team, you are missing out on one of the best daylilies out there. Anyway, back 5 years ago, I set hundreds of pods with teeth and from these long seedling beds came a few Fence Jumpers. PRICKLY PLUMS really should have been introduced next year. My point is I did not take but a few photos. If I had, you could better see all that is really there. Give her a good look, and like me you will be hooked too. Extra Wide overlapping petals, Teeth everywhere, all in multiple colors. AND… a nice green throat. An easy parent both ways, and… with my arching foliage. Did you see the ruffled Double Edging? PS *Leaves should not be up in the flowers!!! Wait until you see the kids!
PRIVILEGED IN PURPLE Pierce G. 480 DB (Guy’s Outrageous x Purple Ninja) SEV, EE, RE, 30” high, 10.5 – 11” bloom, 5-way branching, 25 buds, Fragrant. *Ever bloomer Bi-Tone
Color, color – COLOR! Oh My. The light purple to rich lavender color of this blossom, against the double celery green, will stop you in your tracks. This one, is that one in a million eye-catcher, that only comes from saying “No” in your hybridizing program and being completely selective! PRIVILIGED IN PURPLE is larger than Purple Ninja, has a much Deeper Olive-Green throat, and a Chartreuse edge with a ghost that matches the watermark. The darker purple veining is a nice touch too, as well as the rolled back green bi-tone sepals. Booms Non-Stop. Did I mention Huge…! Fertile both ways.
RASPBERRY MINT SORBET Pierce G. 4006-N (Chesapeake Bay x Rose Sensation) x (Seedling x Triple Greens) SEV-DOR, EE, RE, 37” high, 8-8.5” flower, 7-way branching, 40 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone
Another of my Favorites of Favorites. You have never seen a flower as Unique and Colorful as RASPBERRY MINT SORBET. This giant flat flower really tries to be red, but instead, and ever better, she is the brightest and cleanest glowing coloration of Cerise Deep Rose Pink. Diamond Dusted from TRFK and with twice the substance. The pinkish ghost watermark matches the wide inside petal edging. The outer edging is in multiple colors of Lemon Chartreuse, and White, all ruffled – bubbly – and THICK! And you can’t miss the deep diamond dusted green throat. I love, Love, LOVE this flower and have SO… many futures from her. Fertile both ways with easy pods, and yes – Is Limited! Take her to Sharyn Lianne…
SEVEN OF NINE Pierce G. 550-B (Admirals Blush x Seedling) x (Sweet Cotton Candy x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) SEV, EE, RE, 33” high,7.75-8” flower, 9way branching, 35-40 buds, Fragrant.
One of my favorite flowers. When she first bloomed, beauty after beauty, I said to myself this would have to be a $300 intro. With the over square wide petals, flower size, and just how great it looked. Well… Many hundreds more have come along, so I will keep her real @ $210. SEVEN OF NINE is a voluptuous blossom with lots of TRFK Green in the ribbed throat and the ruffled edging. The light purple to rich lavender petals, are so clean and she is easily fertile; not to mention the near perfect branching. Fertile both ways.
SHOCK AND AWE Pierce G. 433-A (Indigo Ruffles x Seedling) x (Diamond Shores x Guy’s Outrageous) SEV, EM, RE, 28” high, 7.75-8” flower, 4-way branching, 25 buds, Very Fragrant. Bi-tone
Do you like this one? Like all my introductions, what you see is what you get, and I am a stickler for clean clear colors. SHOCK AND AWE is so bright and pure I can easily see her growing under a rainbow in heaven. Corny yes - but true. Day in and day out this is how she looks. I love the lighter sepals, awash in intense green. The entire face of SHOCK AND AWE is boldly Diamond Dusted with a 6 ½” Celery Green throat that is absolutely breathtaking. The Chartreuse edging is quite a sight at ¾ Inch of hooks and knobs. Fertile both ways.
THE GLOWING FIELDS Pierce G. 5177-E (Sdlg 485-B x Oh Thank Heaven) EV, EE, RE, 32” high, 7 5/8 – 8” flower, 7-way branching & prolifs, 40 buds, Fragrant. Bi-Tone Green D.D. Sepals
My first, great intro from EMERGING PATTERNS, first of Many! Where do I even begin. Besides the Huge size and truly wonderful scape, THE GLOWING FIELDS is covered with excitement. You have the pattern, which is actually darker in person, and not the typical shades of purple, raspberry, etc. which flows way out onto the wide Petals. You have the wild triple edging, with the saw teeth in Chartreus. The bulls-eye Celery Green throat is thick and completely Diamond Dusted thanks to TRFK. How about those sepals… Breed for success, THE GLOWING FIELDS is another near perfect modern daylily, and just the beginning of an endless future here!!! I had a sibling that was actually so completely wild, that it had too much, like 98% of the face – You couldn’t concentrate – So, Bye-Bye.
TREASURE OF COLORS Pierce G. 4481-D (Gift of Pizazz x Oh Thank Heaven) EV, EE, RE, 38” high, 6.5” flower, 6-way branching, 35-40 buds, Fragrant.
So much color, and so many of them. Unlike many of the chevron patterns, TREASURE OF COLORS is a pattern, with rings of color, which just get deeper as the season progresses. In addition to so many colored rings, you have the darker veining that intersects and the wide TRIPLE edging, stitched in raspberry, blueberry, and pure white. The pattern repeats on the sepals, and there is a nice green throat. Extremely Pod Fertile, set those hard pollens on her and so continue your lines. Even the base color is sweet. A blast of colors and look at that scape! Fertile both ways
TUMBLEWEED Pierce G. 563-A ((Red eye/White Teeth Seedling x Spinefeld) x Matthew Weldon) EV, E, RE, 34” high, 6.75” flower, 6-way branching, 30-35 buds, Fragrant. Ever bloomer
If the first thing you think of here is “Oh My God” then I agree… There is nothing average about this daylily, nor does it have bad hair days. TUMBLEWEED is the garden name for 563 A, there were many lovelies from this cross, but this one - all came together. A favorite of Karen and mine, and well everyone. Besides having all good traits, TUMBLEWEED is another daylily where even after setting seed, on the 3rd and 4thset of scapes and more, the plant does not shrink down. It is very healthy and sports my typical low arching mound of foliage, with taller scapes. Dark plum, black eye, rich in color, double edging of only teeth and tentacles, in both pure white and chartreuse lemon on both wide petals and sepals. Opens like a champion, and as a breeder has MANY possibilities – Just think about it… Extremely pod and pollen fertile. TUMBLEWEED and her kids will take you far. The picture can say the rest.
VIVID ACCENTS Pierce G. 560-H (Stenciled Infusion x Seedling) x (Waves of Joy x Tetra Kaleidoscope Puzzle) EV, EM, RE, 35” high, 6.75” flower + Prolifs, 6-way branching, 30-35buds, Fragrant.
Bigger and bigger they get. Fuller, and certainly brighter in colors! VIVID ACCENT has many strong attributes besides just a pretty face. First, as she blooms and re blooms, the plant does not shrink down, and the foliage is that nice blue-green color. Healthy! The flower substance is quite thick as well. Unlike the picture which was take in the sun - adding yellow. VIVID ACCENTS is an almost white to light cream base which I feel is more attractive. She has a brightly colored triple edging matching the patterned eye, and is diamond dusted with a sweet green throat. I flag about a hundred pattern keepers a year. To only introduce a few – well, it must be good. Fertile both ways.
YOU’RE DRIVING US WILD Pierce G. 56Q (Max Factor x Seedling) x (Applique Prism x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) SEV, EM, RE, 30” high, 8” flower, 5-way branching, 25-30 buds, Very Fragrant. 6 1/2" Green Center Bi-Tone. Sun Proof
Larger and much darker than Plum Smoothie, this truly unique bloom is another “Study in Color”. The solid dark purple petals contrast nicely with the thick celery green center, together with 100% Diamond Dusted. The green sepal’s role back showing off the purple picotee. Gorgeous in every way and an easy pod parent. If you like rich EIGHT INCH dark purples with pizazz, then YOUR’RE DRIVING US WILD will make your day. Easily Fertile both ways.
